Saturday 9th May 2009 London YP: Pan-UK Armenian Conference
The London group of AGBU Young Professionals has initiated and organized the 2nd UK Pan-Armenian Youth Conference. The conference was held on the 9th of May 2009, at the Graduate Centre of London Metropolitan University. More than hundred participants attended the conference.
The main theme of the conference was - ‘Working Together’. This event provided a stage for the Armenian organizations and individuals to discuss the possibilities and potential strategies of achieving common goals with collaborative efforts.
Representatives of 12 UK-based organizations, such as ASA, HAY, MAYO, Oxford Armenian Society, were given an opportunity to talk about the achievements and future plans of their organizations. However, the main goal of the conference was to discuss strategies and draw action points on sessions such as: [a] development of independently managed Armenian contact database; [b] strategies of bridging Armenian youth organizations operating the in UK; [c] expansion of the Armenian network by integration of the organizations in Armenia and in the Diaspora; [d] the learning and use of Armenian language in the UK.
The keynote speakers: Nicolas Tavitian, AGBU Europe, and Silvie Keshishian, Young Women Charitable Foundation, addressed the topics of the conference and moderated the panel discussions. 
Nicolas Tavitian, shared his achievements in Armenian organizations and shared his view on the benefits that joint efforts and collaboration can bring to Armenian organizations in the UK. Sylvie Keshishian gave an emotional talk on her experience of becoming an active member of the Armenian community in the UK. She shared her experiences and talked about the factors that can help developing stronger bonds between Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora in the UK. The attending public was actively involved in all the discussions. People were able to voice their views and comment on interested topics. The participants also appreciated the opportunities provided for networking and socializing. The participant feedback, received on the topics and organization of the conference, was highly positive . This initiatives will hopefully bring Armenian organizations closer and eventually encourage them to work together.
