London Trust Educational Scholarship Program

AGBU London Trust has a long tradition of supporting Armenian students who study in higher education institutions in the UK. As part of the global AGBU Scholarship program, London Trust provides funding to students of Armenian descent, who are willing to continue or pursue their educational development. Vartavar

This year too, a number of students started their academic year with the support of the organisation. AGBU London chapter received 27 applications this year. The applications span the areas of Arts and Performance, Music, International Relations, Armenian Studies, Mathematics, Linguistics and many more. The applicants provided admission letters from the universities of Oxford, Warwick, Westminster, Leeds, University College London, etc. The awards were generously allocated to 22 applicants based on their academic merit and financial need.

The total budget allocated for educational grants for the 2009-2010 academic year was £41,000. Although, AGBU does not cover the full course fees or living expenses, the students are always thankful to the organisation for taking some of the financial burden of education off their shoulders. For many students, the support provided by the organisation is the only way to continue their education.

The funding provided to the students is made possible by the generous donations of the numerous AGBU benefactors. This year, a donation of £80,815 was made to the educational program in a singular act of kindness. This substantial amount will serve many more students and fellow Armenians who are eager to enhance their educational background and determined to succeed in their chosen field.
